President Bola Tinubu on Sunday expressed his condolences to the people and government of Enugu State following a tragic fuel tanker explosion that occurred on Saturday.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu conveyed his sympathy and urged traffic control agencies to implement additional measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

The statement, titled “President Tinubu Mourns Victims of Fuel Tanker Explosion, Condoles with Enugu State Government,” reflected the president’s concern and proactive approach.

The fuel tanker reportedly lost control and caught fire while navigating the Ugwu-Onyeama section of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway. This incident happened just days after a similar disaster in Niger State, which claimed over 80 lives.

President Tinubu extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and the injured, offering prayers for the souls of the departed and a swift recovery for those receiving medical treatment.

He stressed the importance of caution and adherence to safety measures among road users, particularly fuel tanker operators.

Additionally, the president directed agencies responsible for enforcing traffic regulations to take steps and implement measures aimed at preventing future fuel tanker explosions nationwide.
