Thames Valley Police stated: “PCs Boyden and Speke have been patrolling the Buckinghamshire area today.
“Whilst on patrol they came across a large burn pile on a farm that had lost control and was rapidly spreading towards farm buildings.
“Fortunately for this farmer, the fire station was only a short distance away and crews from OFRS and BFRS were quickly on scene to deal with it.
“Please remember to take precautions when burning agricultural waste and if your ever in doubt, contact your local fire service for more information.”
Bucks Fire and Rescue Service described the situation as a haystack fire and a separate rubbish pile fire.
Three crews attended the scene.
The fire service stated: “Three crews (two from Aylesbury, Bicester) alongside the Wild Fire unit from West Ashland, a Water Bowser from Wheatley and an officer are currently in attendance.
“Firefighters have been called to a haystack fire measuring approx twenty meters by thirty meters.
“There is also a separate rubbish pile (approx twenty meters by twenty meters) on fire.”
The crews have used two hose reel jets.
