Historic Day for Iworo: Oba Oladele Kosoko, Primate Ayodele Inaugurate 100.1 FM Station

The Oniworo of Iworo Kingdom, Oba Oladele Kosoko, the Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, Olorunda LCDA Chairman, Mr. Samson Folorunsho, and several other royal fathers and clerics, inaugurated Iworo 100.1 FM on Thursday, February 6, 2025, in Badagry, Lagos State.

 

The commissioning of Iworo 100.1 FM is another notable achievement for Oba Oladele Kosoko, whose reign has brought significant establishments and investments to the Iworo community.

 

As the chairman, Oba Oladele Kosoko described the establishment of Iworo 100.1 FM as a groundbreaking development, being the first of its kind in the community. He recalled how many doubted the project when the foundation was laid in 2024.

 

 

He emphasized that Iworo 100.1 FM is inclusive and accessible to everyone, regardless of religious or tribal backgrounds.

 

“Today is a day of joy because when we laid this foundation in August, many thought it would be a joke. But I am happy this has come to pass. This radio station is not just for this community but for everyone. We can use it to disseminate all kinds of information instantly. It is also open to all religions, including Christianity, Islam, and traditional beliefs. We are not a tribalistic radio station at all.

 

“It gladdens my heart; it’s unexpected, and I am happy that it is happening during my reign. This is an avenue for communication, and I pray that those who have similar dreams will achieve them.”

 

Similarly, Mr. Samson Folorunsho, the Chairman of Olorunda LCDA, applauded the establishment and expressed gratitude to God for making it happen during his tenure.

 

“We thank God because this is surprising to us. We have been looking for ways to make it happen, and we are happy this has happened in our tenure.”

 

Primate Ayodele, who facilitated the establishment of the radio station in the Iworo community despite initial plans to locate it elsewhere, expressed gratitude to Oba Oladele Kosoko for his support throughout the building process.

 

Discussing the origins of the radio station, Primate Ayodele recounted how some indigenes of the Iworo community approached him for advice on establishing a radio station in Lagos State. He revealed that they initially planned to situate it elsewhere, but he advised them to establish it in Iworo instead.

 

“We had already bought the land before he called me to ask what it was intended for. I told him it was for a radio station, and because of his love for development, he refunded the money paid for the land and took just N1 million for it. He then requested that we name it Iworo FM, and I agreed.

 

“Kabiesi started the building with his personal funds, laying the foundation and erecting the fence even before the committee was aware. I had to inform them that work had already begun. To this day, they still owe him, as he invested heavily in the project.”

 

Additionally, Primate Ayodele announced plans to build a mass communication school within the premises of Iworo 100.1 FM shortly. The groundbreaking ceremony for the school was held alongside the commissioning of Iworo 100.1 FM.

 

Furthermore, the leadership of Iworo 100.1 FM showed appreciation to the residents by empowering women with funds for their businesses, providing school fees support for youths, and organizing a palliative market where food items were sold at reduced prices.
