Gary Lineker is reportedly on the verge of parting ways with the BBC following a social media incident that left many staff members 'disgusted'.
The veteran presenter, 64, who earlier this season announced his plan to leave his role on Match of the Day after 26 years, is now expected to make an early exit, as per reports by the i Paper.
Insiders suggest Lineker's tenure is hanging by a thread after he reposted a pro-Palestine video on Instagram, which included an 'anti-Semitic' rat emoji from Palestine Lobby, sparking serious backlash.

Although the finer details of any potential departure are yet to be ironed out, it's understood that the rising friction may soon reach a climax, with the broadcaster under heavy scrutiny to respond.
Lineker has since apologised for the oversight in a statement: "On Instagram I reposted material which I have since learned contained offensive references.", reports the Mirror.
"I very much regret these references. I would never knowingly share anything antisemitic. It goes against everything I believe in.
"The post was removed as soon as I became aware of the issue. Whilst I strongly believe in the importance of speaking out on humanitarian issues, including the tragedy unfolding in Gaza, I also know that how we do so matters.
"I take full responsibility for this mistake. That image does not reflect my views. It was an error on my part for which I apologise unreservedly."
Before Lineker's statement, The Telegraph disclosed that BBC staff were incensed by the corporation's failure to dismiss Lineker in light of his "repeated offensiveness to Jewish people".
An incognito BBC employee remarked: "It is quite simply disgusting that the BBC has not kicked Lineker out.
"His repeated offensiveness to Jewish people has clearly brought the BBC into disrepute.
"The interpretation of Zionism he has shared is anti-Semitic and the fact that the BBC thinks it's acceptable is deeply upsetting to its Jewish staff, myself included."
