Manur police have arrested four persons who reportedly posted a video and a few photos with a deplorable message on social media with the nefarious motive of creating a rift between two caste groups.
The police received information that an objectionable video and a few photographs with condemnable wordings had been posted on the social media with the motive of creating a clash between two caste groups.
The police examined the social media post by Gokul, 24, Muthu, 20, Sudalaimuthu, 18, and Antonyraj, all hailing from Ettankulam near Manur, and arrested them.
During interrogation, the four accused reportedly told the police that they had posted the video and the photos for inciting violence between the two caste groups.
Superintendent of Police N. Silambarasan said the police were constantly monitoring social media posts and those who uploaded videos, memes or photos with the ulterior motive of inciting violence between people of different castes or religions would be seriously dealt with.
