PTML Command Aims for Record-Breaking One-Hour Cargo Clearance

 

The Port Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has set an ambitious goal to achieve one-hour clearance for Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) cargo, surpassing its current record of two hours.

 

During the celebration of International Customs Day in Lagos, Comptroller Tenny Mankini Daniya Mnia, the Customs Area Controller of the Command, highlighted the potential for even faster clearance times. He stressed that this could be achieved if importers and their agents adhere to compliance requirements, such as sincere declaration, prompt payment of duties, and readiness for exit.

 

 

According to him, with these measures in place, the command is capable of clearing automobile cargoes within one hour.

 

Comptroller Mankini also announced that the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has granted approval for the PTML Terminal to handle pharmaceutical imports. This approval was secured due to the terminal’s stringent security measures and transparent operations.

 

 

He praised the Grimaldi management for their commitment to efficiency and the commencement of shipping services from Lagos to Shanghai, China. He described this as a positive development that should be maintained through legitimate shipping and increased trade activities.

 

The CAC noted that the theme of this year’s International Customs Day, **”Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security, and Prosperity,”** perfectly encapsulates the activities of the Nigeria Customs Service, particularly the PTML Command.

 

 

Comptroller Daniya assured that 2025 would bring further improvements on previous achievements and urged all stakeholders to continue supporting the NCS in its modernization efforts.

 

He stated, “As you are all aware, this command is playing a leading role in the reorganization of the customs modernization project, which has already recorded significant successes. Our commitment to efficiency, security, and prosperity is unwavering.
